Sugar prices up on rise in demand amid tight supply

Sugar prices moved up by Rs 80 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today on rise of demand amid restricted supplies from mills.
Marketmen said after recent losses, sugar prices recovered on pick up in demand at prevailing levels coupled with thin supplies from mills, mainly attributed rise in sweetener prices.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices settled higher by Rs 80 each to Rs 3,940-4,000 and Rs 3,930-3,990 per quintal.
Likewise, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices ended up by Rs 60 each to Rs 3,550-3,680 and Rs 3,540-3,670 per quintal respectively.
In the millgate section, sugar Mawana, Simbholi, Kinnoni, Budhana, Thanabhavan and Dhanora all rose by up to Rs 60 to conclude at Rs 3,640, Rs 3,650, 3,680, Rs 3,640, Rs 3,635 and Rs 3,650 per quintal respectively.
Prices of Modinagar, Asmoli, Sakoti, Dorala, Chandpur, Khatuli and Dhampur gained up to Rs 40 to finish at Rs 3,600, Rs 3,640, Rs 3,600, Rs 3,630, Rs 3,600, Rs 3,640 and Rs 3,600 per quintal respectively.
