Sugar prices witness mixed trend

A mixed trend emerged at the wholesale sugar market in the national capital today with prices of select mills rising on better offtake by retailers and bulk consumers even as others traded lower.
Marketmen said sugar spot and some mills prices were up largely on the back of increased demand, driven by the festive and wedding season.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 2,670-2,820 and Rs 2,660-2,810, compared with last close of Rs 2,650-2,800 and Rs 2,640-2,790 per quintal.
Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded at Rs 2,470-2,670 and Rs 2,460-2,660 instead of Rs 2,500-2,660 and Rs 2,490-2,650 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Asmoli rose by Rs 20 at Rs 2,670, while Dorala gained Rs 10 at Rs 2,540 per quintal.
On the other hand, sugar Dhanora, Morna and Baghpat lost Rs 40 each at Rs 2,490, Rs 2,480 and Rs 2,490 per quintal.
