Sugar rose up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following strong demand from bulk consumers amid tight supplies by mills.
Marketmen attributed strong recovery in sweetener prices to spurt in demand from stockists and bulk consumers including soft-drink and ice-cream makers.
Furthermore, fresh buying by retailers ahead of new month, and fall in supplies by mills, also influenced sugar prices, they said.
Prices of sugar ready M-30 and S-30 enquired higher at Rs 2,630-2,790 and Rs 2,620-2,780 as against last close of Rs 2,600-2,750 and Rs 2,590-2,740, per quintal.
