Sugar rises on brisk demand, thin supply

Continuing its upward trend, sugar prices rose by another Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following strong demand from stockists and bulk consumers amid tight supplies.
Marketmen attributed persistent rise in the sweetener prices to sustained demand from bulk consumers and retailers triggered by summer season.
Besides, restricted supplies from mills and pick up in export demand too supported the upside in sugar prices, they added.
Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices spurted by Rs 25 each to finish at Rs 3,625-3,725 and Rs 3,615-3,715 per quintal.
Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices surged by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,320-3,430 and Rs 3,310-3,420 per quintal.
In the millgate section, sugar Kinnoni rose by Rs 30 to Rs 3,430, while Asmoli, Dorala, Dhanora and Khatuli advanced by Rs 20 each at Rs 3,400, Rs 3,370, Rs 3,360 and Rs 3,400 per quintal, respectively.
