Sugar rises on consistent demand

Both varieties of sugar maintained their bullishness at the Vashi wholesale market here today on rising demand from stockists and bulk consumer on the back of seasonal offtake.
Ongoing marriage season and higher export demand also aiding sugar prices, dealers said.
Medium sugar (M-30) strengthened by Rs 30/20 to Rs 3,092/ 3,182 from Wednesday's close of Rs 3,062/3,162.
Small Sugar (S-30) hardened Rs 32/22 Rs 2,982/3,072 from Rs 2,950/3,050.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,982/3,072 (Rs 2,950/3,050).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,092/3,182 (Rs 3,062/3,162).
