Sugar softens on subdued demand

Both the varieties of sugar softened at the Vashi wholesale market following subdued demand from stockists and retailers amidst poor offtake from millers.
Small sugar (S-30) prices moved down by Rs 5/5 per quintal to Rs 3,545/3,790 from Monday's close at Rs 3,550/3,795.
Medium sugar (M-30) prices edged down by Rs 2 per quintal to Rs 3,640/3,960 as compared Rs 3,642/3,960 yesterday.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,545/3,790 (Rs 3,550/3,795).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,640/3,960 (Rs 3,642/3,960).
