Sugar weakens on slackens demand, ample supply

Sugar prices softened by Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today as demand declined following end of festive season amidst ample supplies from mills.
Marketmen said fall in demand from retailers and bulk consumers following end of festive season amidst adequate stocks on increased supplies by mills mainly weighed on the sweetner prices.
Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices declined from Rs 2,900-3,175 and Rs 2,890-3,150 to finish at Rs 2,880-3,130 and Rs 2,870-3,110 per quintal.
Sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices also traded lower by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,070-3,280 and Rs 3,060-3,270 per quintal.
In millgate section, Sugar Kinnoni slipped by Rs 40 to trade lower at Rs 3,130 per quintal, while Mawana and Khatuli dropped Rs 25 each at Rs 3,055 and Rs 3,095 per quintal.
Prices of Sakoti fell by Rs 20 at Rs 2,950 per quintal, while Budhana and Thanabhavan lost Rs 15 each at Rs 3,025 and Rs 3,115 per quintal.
