"I have informed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of my decision," Marjit said at a press conference where state education minister Bryata Basu was also present.
Denying rumours about his alleged difference with the state government, especially Basu, over various policies, Marjit said, "My resignation is not due to any difference with the state government or the minister. I am always ready to help the state government in my own capacity," he said.
When Basu was asked that in the past two years, pro-change educationists such as Sunanda Sanyal and others have resigned after being reportedly disappointed with the government, Bratya Basu said, "I can't say anything on this.
