The body of a 34-year-old man, who jumped into Chenab river last month, was recovered by Pakistani rangers and handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) in Suchetgarh sector here, a police official said today.
Kulwinder Singh, resident of Sanjay Nagar locality, had allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the river at the Akhnoor bridge on November 25, he said.
Despite hectic efforts his body could not be recovered and Pakistani authorities were alerted about the possibility it being carried by water current to other side of the international border.
Pakistani rangers recovered the body yesterday and handed it over to BSF in Suchetgarh sector, the official said.
A police team from Gharota police station recovered the body from BSF and handed it over to the family for last rites, he added.
