Sultry weather in Delhi, mercury remains above 42 degrees C

Delhiites continued to reel under severe heat wave conditions as the mercury settled at 42.6 degrees Celsius while humidity levels too shot up making it tough for people.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose reading is considered as the official figure for the city, recorded the maximum temperature of 42.6 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average while the minimum temperature settled at 30.6 degrees, three notches above the season's average, said a Met department official.
The Palam observatory registered a maximum temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius, the official said.
Humidity in air oscillated between 85 and 40 per cent.
Met office has predicted the possibility of dust storms and thunder storms towards afternoon and night tomorrow.
"Tomorrow the skies will be partly cloudy. Dust storms and thunder storms are likely to occur in some parts of the city towards afternoon and night.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 42 and 31 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature had settled at 30.0 degrees Celsius while maximum temperature was recorded at 42.9 degrees Celsius.
