Media mogul Sumner Redstone (pictured) has resigned as the executive chairman of US TV network CBS.
The 92-year-old will be replaced by the company’s long-serving CEO, Leslie Moonves, said the Holly Reporter.
Redstone, who has been battling poor health in recent months, stepped down early this week and was appointed chairman emeritus.
On Thursday, Viacom Inc’s board of directors named CEO Philippe Dauman as executive chairman, replacing founder Redstone, overriding calls for an independent board chief from his daughter Shari, who voted against Dauman. Redstone will become chairman emeritus of Viacom.
