Sundergarh woman killed over witchcraft

A 55-year-old woman was allegedly killed by villagers suspecting her of practising witchcraft in Odisha's Sundergarh district, police said.
The police today arrested 11 persons in connection with the killing of Jasoda Singh, wife of Fagu Singh, a resident of Rathakhandi village.
The incident took place on Friday night.
Inspector-in-charge Biramitrapur, D P Das, said, We immediately rushed to the spot and found the blood stained weapons on the spot.
Das said the police have arrested 11 persons so far in this connection and three more will be arrested soon.
He said her attackers suspected her of practising witchcraft. The accused persons have also alleged that the woman brought bad luck to the entire village.
The biggest allegation against her was that she could change the sex of a foetus in the womb, the police said after interrogating the accused.
The deceased woman's husband and her son too have sustained serious injuries in the attack and are undergoing treatment.
The woman's daughter Gayatri, who had come to celebrate Holi with the family, filed an FIR. She had named 15 persons of the village for the attack on her family and the killing of her mother.
