Under this unique collaboration, a three year programme has been introduced to initiate a platform for knowledge exchange, inspiration, network and opportunity development between the Indian and Dutch fashion communities.
"It's a fantastic move and I am happy to announce that as part of the collaboration, we have decided to present the opening show of the upcoming edition of WIFW with a collaborative show of Suneet Varma and Jan Taminiau," said Sunil Sethi, President Fashion Design Council of India.
"It's a very bold move and we look forward to extend this programme in the near future. We have done many such collaboration in the past also and recent being the Japan collaboration," Sethi added.
Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 will commence from October 6 to October 10.
Both the designers are excited as it will be their debut collaboration.
Varma, who has just completed 25 years in the fashion industry, said, "I got an email from Jan and he said that Dutch government is collaborating with India and I would like to work with you. I met with him and was surprised to know that I and he share same interest in fashion.
"We shared our knowledge about the cultures of both the country and I feel the collection will be a melange of both the cultures. I will impart drape and embellishments in the collection and he would give construction and certain kind of structure to the dress," he added. (MORE)
