: Madras High court today issued suo motu contempt notice to the Vilathikulam Tahsildhar, returnable by four weeks, for twisting its order and projecting as if it had given a positive direction or order in favour of a person for conducting Navarathiri Pooja.
"It is evident that the tahsildhar has passed the order deliberately, in supression of the actual order passed by the court, to favour a particular respondent for reasons best known to him," Justice K Ravichandra Babu said.
"The disobedience and violation made by tahsildhar Selvakumar is evident on the fact itself. This court, thus,is of prima facie view that such an official who passes this order has committed contempt, in order to uphold the majesty of this institution"
A petition was filed directing the Tuticorin collector to conduct Navarathiri festival of sri Arulmigu sri Uchini Mahakaliamman kovil at Kulathur in vilathikulam taluk.
The court directed Selvakumar to pass orders on the representation of one S Muthusamy pillai, on merit and as per law also by affordig an opportunity of hearing all concerned, including petitioner Paramasivam pillai on or before Oct 12 2015.
But the tahsildhar did not do so and passed a twisted order, making it seem like Muthusamy pillai had got order in his favour from the bench and Paramasivan pilla and his clan should not interfere and cause any hurdle.
Paramasivam pillai should get orders in his favour from the court if he wanted to do pooja, the tahsildhar said.
