Super-speciality hospital to come up in PPP mode in Odisha

Odisha government today accorded in-principle approval for establishment of one super speciality cardiac care hospital on public-private-partnership (PPP) mode, officials said.
The approval was given by the Empowered Committee on Infrastructure (ECI) at a meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Secretary G C Pati while reviewing progress of various infrastructure projects being taken up under PPP mode.
The department of Health and Family Welfare department had submitted a proposal for setting up of a super speciality cardiac care hospital in Jharsuguda on PPP mode. The hospital will have 50 beds and two operation theatres. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 40 crore.
The hospital is being founded by the state government and the Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL), a CPSU. Pati has also suggested the department to develop a human organ bank in the hospital in future.
Taking stock of the progress of different PPP projects, Pati directed the respective administrative departments to own the projects and follow up the implementation closely.
Major projects reviewed by the committee included development of storage and warehousing for rice under State scheme at Berhampur, Gopalpur, Chhatrapur, Hinjilicut urban cluster, two affordable housing projects under 'Housing for all' policy in urban areas, 4-laning of Sambalpur-Rourkela Section of State Highway No-10, 23 road projects and three fly overs.
