A Joint Action Committee, spearheading the campaign for a "united" Andhra Pradesh, plans to organise a public meeting here next month.
"We will meet all parties seeking their support for keeping Andhra Pradesh united. We would like to organise a public meeting in Nizam College ground in Hyderabad," Kishore Kumar, a leader of the 'Samaikyandhra' (united Andhra Pradesh) Joint Action Committee, told reporters here.
The move by supporters of "united Andhra" to hold a public meeting in Hyderabad, which is in Telangana, had earlier faced criticism from leaders from the region in Congress and other parties, even as protests continued in non-Telangana regions today supporting the demand to keep the state "united".
Meanwhile, MLAs and other Congress leaders, who planned to organise a massive public meeting at Anantapur in Rayalaseema region, in support of a "united Andhra Pradesh" have decided to postpone the event, sources said.
The Congress Core Group had on last Friday decided to let the party's Working Committee (CWC) take a final view on the Telangana issue.
Supporters of both separate Telangana and united Andhra Pradesh had camped in the national capital to pursue their respective demands with the party high command.
