Surface communication in Arunachal to be restored soon

Surface communication between Banderdewa and Itanagar which has been disrupted since August 15 following washing away of a large portion of NH 52 (A) would be restored soon, PWD officials said.
"The road between Nirjuli and Banderdewa will be re-opened for movement of light vehicles within a couple of days," Highway (Western Zone) chief engineer Hage Appa said today.
However, it would take at least a month to restore the road for movement of heavy vehicles, he added.
PWD Minister Gajen Gadi accompanied by Appa inspected the washed out portion of the road at sinking zone near Karsingsa yesterday.
Road communication to Itanagar from Banderdewa via Karsingsa remained cut off for the fifth day today due to washing away of road and culverts at sinking zone near Karsingsa by Dikrong River.
The district administration has diverted traffic to Nirjuli-Gumto-Harmutty road to take NH-52 in Assam since August 15.

The Minister asked the accompanying team of engineers to complete the restoration work as soon as possible, Appa said.
The minister also inspected the worsening road condition from Bage Tinali to Gumto gate. Earlier in the day, Gadi inspected the damaged Dera Natung Government College road and instructed the engineers concerned to complete the work soon. The minister was given assurance that the work will start tomorrow.
