At least 20 I-T officials were injured when employees of private Jeevan Jyoti hospital, owned by Dr A K Bansal, attacked them during raid yesterday.
38 persons have been named in the FIR lodged by I-T sleuths.
Raids were conducted simultaneously at 15 places, 13 of them in Allahabad and one each in Gorakhpur and Delhi, following "serious complaints" of tax evasion against Bansal.
While three persons were arrested in early hours, the arrest of Bansal took place in the evening amid high drama at a crowded press conference.
The press conference convened by Bansal took the media fraternity by surprise as he had been named in the FIR lodged late last night at Keedganj police station.
A police team from Keedganj, upon receiving information about the press conference being held in Civil Lines area, rushed to the venue and arrested the surgeon, much to the amusement of newspersons whom the medical practitioner had been addressing a short while ago.
