The Indian Coast Guard today said sensitive sea areas off Gujarat coasts have been sanitised and surveillance has been stepped up following Army's surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the LoC.
"The Indian Coast Guard regional headquarters (North West), at Gandhinagar had launched special operation in coordination with the stakeholders, including marine police and the state administration since September 26," the ICG said in a press release.
"The sensitive sea areas have been duly sanitised and it is planned to sustain the enhanced surveillance till normalisation of the situation," it said.
Considering the incidents of recent past (surgical strikes on terrorist launch pads in PoK), the overall security for the shore establishments and fishermen has been duly enhanced, the Coast Guard added.
The ICG said it has requested the stakeholders "to advise fishermen to undertake group fishing and avoid fishing close to notional international maritime border line (IMBL)/no fishing zone."
"In addition, the presence of ICG units at sea and patrolling in sensitive areas by undertaking forward area deployment of assets, both ships and aircraft has been effected," it said.
The ICG has also advised the fishing community and other stakeholders to maintain enhanced vigil and report any "abnormal activity" either at sea or in areas close to the coast, it said.
