A team, comprising the officials of the Social Forestry wing under the Forest Department and avian buffs, began the the initiative counting the number of birds at Connemara market here in the morning.
The venue was chosen as the forum, with the support of the Department, had installed around hundreds of wooden nests for house sparrows in the market and the surrounding areas two years ago.
The survey would cover the locations where the nests were installed and the selected other spots where the bird species are largely spotted.
