Survivor's lead singer Jimi Jamison dies at 63

Jimi Jamison, lead singer of rock bands Cobra and Survivor, has passed away following a heart attack. He was 63.
The artiste died on Sunday, August 31, his booking manager confirmed, reported TMZ.
Jamison performed as the frontman of American band Cobra in early 1980s and after its dissolution in 1984, he stepped in as Survivor's lead singer.
He replaced rock band's then frontman David Bickler, who was forced to leave the group after developing polyps on his vocal chords shortly after Survivor recorded their biggest hit, the Grammy-winning 'Rocky III' cut 'Eye of the Tiger'.
Jamison, who served as Survivor's frontman till 1988, performed to band's hits like 'Burning Heart' from 'Rocky IV' and 'The Moment of Truth' ('The Karate Kid').

He recorded three albums with the band, 1984's Vital Signs, 1986's When Seconds Count and 1988's Too Hot to Sleep. He also recorded 'Baywatch' theme 'I'm Always There' as a solo artiste.

Survivor disbanded in 1989, but reformed in 1993 with Bickler back at the microphone. Jamison eventually rejoined Survivor in 2000 for another six years.
Jamison left the band after the release of album Reach in 2006. He was replaced by Robin McAuley. The band continued to tour with McAuley into 2011, when Jamison returned for his second innings with Survivor.
A year later, he released his solo album Never Too Late but he continued to tour with Survivor.

The band had performed in Morgan Hill, California on August 30. It was scheduled to begin another tour on September 12 in Parker, Colorado.
