It entered the LED business last year by investing around Rs 50 crore, and is looking to invest more as it sees this segment as the future of lighting.
"The company has already invested Rs 40-50 crore and is also planning to invest further. Surya shall strive to achieve a revenue of Rs 500 crore in LED segment in the next 2-3 years," said Surya Roshni Managing Director Raju Bista.
It is the second largest lighting company in the country. In 2013-14, the contribution of the lighting segment was Rs 1,200 crore in its total earning of Rs 4,000 crore.
"LEDs are the future of lighting and being the pioneers in this field, it becomes our responsibility to educate common people about the advantages of LED lighting," it said.
Besides reducing electricity bills, the campaign will also help in reducing green house emission level, global warming and dependency on natural resources and non-renewable energy.
Surya Roshni manufactures a range of indoor and outdoor LED products at its plant. It has a sales network of over two lakh retailers.
