Sushma gives credit to women for passage of street vendor bill

Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj today gave credit to women for the passage of a bill on protecting the rights of street vendors in the Lok Sabha.
As soon as the the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill was passed by the House, Swaraj rose to say that three women were behind the unanimous passage of the measure.
She said besides her, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Girija Vyas and Sumitra Mahajan, who was in the Chair when the bill was passed, is also a woman.
The Bill seeks to regulate street vending activities and protect the rights of urban street vendors - including against harassment by the police and municipal authorities.
