Congress and BSP activists today staged a sit-in here after a 22-year-old woman died of dengue.
They alleged that the administration failed to properly handle dengue cases and arrest the spread of the disease.
Meenu, a resident of Basant Nagar, today died of dengue at a private hospital in Jalandhar following which Congress and BSP activists held a sit-in outside the office of Corporation Commissioner.
They claimed that three persons had died of dengue in Basant Nagar in one week. Authorities, however, refuted their claims.
Yamuna Devi (32) and Parkash Kaur (60) had died of dengue a few days ago. Over 100 people have so far been diagnosed with dengue in the locality, they claimed.
Congress leader Joginder Singh Mann and BSP member Jarnail Nangal led their workers during the sit-in and demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation to each of the families.
