Following a tip-off, the Naxalite, identified as Pramod alias Kumar alias Tanmai Godghate was caught by a team of police and anti-Naxal squad on Monday from the court premises at around 7.30 pm. The police team was led by assistant police inspector Kushal Tijare, District Superintendent of Police Rajiv Jain said.
"Thirty one year old Godghate, a resident of Matanagar locality of Lalpeth area here, is a graduate. He was wanted in connection with various activities like sticking handbills and fixing banners in Brahmapuri tehsil in 2008. However, he remained underground ever since he was booked," Jain said.
Godghate had become a member of Western Maharashtra Area Committee in 2010 and used to recruit youths from rural parts of the district, besides providing some important materials to the Dalam, Jain added.
Ramnagar police produced Godghate before a local court, which remanded him in police custody till August 7.
