Pakistan's security forces today arrested a man and claimed to have foiled a suspected terror bid at the international airport here.
During a routine inspection at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, the Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel stopped a vehicle and found a weapon and a huge cache of ammunition upon checking, officials said.
"The Airport Security Force today arrested a man for carrying weapons - rifle, seven magazines, hundreds of bullets - in his car," ASF spokesman Nayyar Shamim told PTI.
Police were trying to ascertain whether the suspect, Muhammad Bilal who is a resident of Lahore, had any links with any terror groups.
After initial interrogation, the suspect was handed over to police for registration of an FIR.
"The suspect told ASF that it was not his car as he was only a driver," Shamim said.
The suspect said that he had gone to the airport to receive someone and apparently, he does not appear to be a part of any terror network, the officer added.
