SVC to Transport dept: Check illegal entry of vehicles into JK

Taking serious note of illegal entry of commercial vehicles into Jammu and Kashmir, the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today directed Transport Department to check this menace.
The SVC directed the Commissioner Secretary Transport Department to take appropriate steps to check the illegal entry of public transport registered outside the state and plan out remedial measures for strict implementation of the order.
The commission issued the directions while proceeding on a complaint filed by Director, Kehwah Wheels Pvt Ltd Panthachowk, Srinagar, Sheikh Imran alleging commercial buses and taxis were operating in the state illegally in violation of rules and without payment of taxes, the spokesman said.
He had further alleged that these vehicles not only create traffic problems but also cast a shadow over the businesses of the local transporters, especially during tourism season.
