Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation today lodged a case against some Public Works Department employees, including a former executive engineer here after a bridge he sanctioned was washed away in floods.
"The SVO registered a case against the then Executive Engineer, PWD, and others into the allegations of washing away of RCC culvert constructed over Aik Nallah on Karail to Rehal Road Tehsil Bishnah in floods," a spokesman of the SVO said.
He said, "It was alleged in complaint that the structure was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.5 crore in 2005 and within two years of its construction washed away".
He said the verification of the allegations revealed that the competent authority did not accord technical sanction for the work.
"The soil bearing capacity and other basic parameters like foundation pressure parameters and floor protection were not been taken into account, he said.
