External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today met her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the BRICS Ministerial Conference in South Africa during which the two leaders discussed ways to maintain the momentum in bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
Swaraj, who is on a five-day trip to South Africa, attended the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Foreign Ministers' meeting. It was held to lay the foundation for the annual summit of the grouping in Johannesburg next month which is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"Continuing multifaceted engagement between two large economies! EAM @SushmaSwaraj and Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi met on the sidelines of the BRICS Ministerial Conference. Both leaders discussed ways to maintain the momentum in bilateral and multilateral cooperation," Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar tweeted.
Swaraj will also chair a meeting of Foreign Ministers of IBSA (India, Brazil, South Africa), another bloc working to deepen coordination among the three countries on major global issues.
