Swelling Dudua river inundates several villages in Dhupguri
Press Trust of India Jalpaiguri(WB) Several villages along the Dudua river in the Dhupguri block of the district were inundated after river water swelled and flooded large areas of Gadong and Shakoajora I and II gram panchayats, a senior district official said.
More than 1,500 people have already been shifted to higher areas and temporary shelters, said Soumen Dutraj, BDO-Dhupguri.
Officials of the district disaster management committee and the local panchayats have been pressed into service for relief and rescue work, Dutraj said.
