The two fraudsters, engaged in running an inter-state racket, have been identified as Rajnesh and Brajesh, both residents of Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.
The duo, from whom police recovered various fake IDs, 25 mobile handsets, one tablet and a dozen SIM cards, have allegedly cheated more than 50 people from different states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat and Mumbai.
According to Circle Officer Rajesh Kumar, the accused used to lure students who failed to clear MBBS entrance exams by sending SMSes and then charged huge amounts of money from them promising that they will help them clear the tests.
Shishupal told police this morning that he was asked by the accused to meet in person with cash near SRM College at Sikri Kalan, following which Kotwali in-charge Deepak Sharma reached the spot with a team and caught Rajnesh and Brajesh.
According to SHO Deepak Sharma, the arrested duo will be further questioned at Modinagar by police officials from Gujarat and other states.
