Swine flu claims one life in Himachal,CM issues directions to

Following the death of a 33-year-old man due to swine flu, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today directed the health department to take extra measures to deal with the contagious disease and said there was no need to panic.
Ajay Kumar was referred to IGMC hospital, Shimla from Solan with swine flu symptoms on Sunday and died on the same day.
The test reports of his blood samples received last evening confirmed that he was infected with the swine flu, Medical superintendent of IGMC, Dr Romesh said.
The health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur had reviewed the situation at a meeting yesterday and said that out of 37 samples of suspected swine flu, six had tested positive but he did not mention any death.
Chief Minister said that there was no need to panic and the state Government was monitoring the situation regularly, adding that the government hospitals were fully equipped to deal with the situation.
He appealed to the people to take doctor's advice as soon as the symptoms of the disease surface and said that directions had already been issued to the all the health institutions in the state to deal with such cases on priority.
Chief Minister said that a special awareness campaign to educate the masses about the care and prevention from swine flu was being carried out and adequate arrangements had been made at all prominent religious places to keep check on the disease.
Further all the CMOs and BMOs in the districts have been directed to convene meetings with doctors in their respective areas and constantly review the arrangements from time to time.
