Switchover to PAO system: DGAT interacts with stakeholders

Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Altaf Hassan Mirza today met senior officials, industry representatives and other stakeholders to discuss the switchover from the existing Treasury system to the modern Pay and Accounts Office (PAO) mechanism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirza held an interactive session with the stakeholders to discuss the preparation for the transition, an official spokesman said.
The DG apprised the participants about the benefits of the new system and how it will streamline the whole process of government payments.
He said the new system, besides being user-friendly, will root out corruption and make it easier to see real-time progress of all developmental projects and payments thereof.
He said the Ministry of Finance is proposing to bring radical reforms in the payments system of the state by switching over to the PAO system.
Riyaz Hussain, CAO, Jammu said PAO is a client-oriented, integrated application that aims at achieving operational efficiency across streams of public financial management system.
He said after implementation of the program, all amounts will get directly credited to beneficiary accounts, and will nurture transparency and establish a technically sound accounting management system in the state.
The meeting was attended by Director Accounts and Treasury K K Gupta, heads of various departments, chief engineers, representative of industry chambers, traders associations, contractors and other stakeholders.
