Syed Vicaruddin receives Palestine's 'Star of Jerusalem' award

Chairman of Indo-Arab League, Hyderabad, Syed Vicaruddin, has become the first Indian to receive the 'Star of Jerusalem', the highest civilian honour of Palestine.
Mahmoud Sidqi Al-Habash, Supreme Judge and Special Advisor to President of Palestine Mahmood Abbas, conferred the award on Vicaruddin, who is also Chief Editor of Urdu daily Rahnuma-e-Deccan, at a ceremony here last night.
Mahmoud Al-Habash said, "The award is a distinct honour bestowed on rare occasions. I am honoured to be representing the Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas to confer this prestigious award."
"The award is a tribute to over four decades of his (Vicaruddin's) continued, principled support for the Palestinian struggle, for the realisation of statehood, sovereignty and self determination," he added.

Receiving the award, Vicaruddin thanked President Mahmood Abbas for bestowing the honour.
He also assured his continued support for the cause of Palestinian peace.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali also addressed the gathering.
Ambassador of Palestine Adnan Abu Alhaijaa, Minister of Embassy of Palestine (New Delhi) Saleh Fhied Mohammed, Vice President of Indo-Arab League, Mir Akbar Ali Khan, and Project Director of Indo-Arab Cultural Centre Syed Ahmed Amir Khan, were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
