Synagogue Secy booked for demanding bribe

The Secretary of a local synagogue has been booked for demanding bribe for issuing a burial certificate to an applicant here, police said today.
According to police, the secretary of the synagogue Ezra Moses was booked under section 385 of the IPC last night following a complaint by one Harzal J Simon.
In his complaint, Simon alleged that after the death of his mother and grandmother, they were buried at the cemetery in front of the Raymond company here.
He then applied for the burial certificate with the local synagogue. The Secretary in September 2016 made a bribe demand of Rs 5000 for each of the certificates.
Following the demand he lodged the complaint against the secretary and a probe was carried out after which the offence was finally registered against the secretary with Naupada police station.
