Syngene International surges 3% on robust Q4 result

Shares of Biocon's contract research arm Syngene International today rose by nearly 3 per cent after the company reported a 19.6 per cent rise in standalone net profit for March quarter.
The stock gained 2.58 per cent to close at Rs 388.30 on BSE. During the day, it climbed 3.73 per cent to Rs 392.70.
On NSE, the scrip rose by 2.66 per cent to Rs 388.55.
Syngene International yesterday reported a 19.6 per cent rise in standalone net profit at Rs 66.5 crore for March quarter.
It had posted a net profit of Rs 55.6 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Syngene International had said in a BSE filing.
Standalone total income from operations also rose to Rs 331.5 crore for the quarter under review as against Rs 251.8 crore in the same period a year ago.
For the entire fiscal, the company posted a net profit of Rs 221.2 crore compared with Rs 175 crore in 2014-15.
Total income from operations stood at Rs 1,107 crore in 2015-16 fiscal as against Rs 859.9 crore in the previous year.
