Syria would not divert attention from Afghanistan: Pentagon
Press Trust of India Washington The Pentagon has said the proposed action in Syria would not divert its attention from the war against terrorism in Afghanistan, asserting that it is capable of conducting successful operations in both the countries.
"We can walk and talk and chew gum at the same time. We know that we have a war to prosecute in Afghanistan, and we're continuing to engage in that process," the Pentagon Press Secretary, George Little, said.
"We are not taking our eye off the ball in Afghanistan. We can conduct the Syria mission, if called upon, and we can fight the war in Afghanistan, too," Little said.
Little was responding to a question about concerns in Afghanistan that the military strike in Syria would divert the American attention and thus have an adverse impact on the war against terrorism in the region.
