T N Haokip today formally assumed charge as the new president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee succeeding former president and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, a party spokesperson said.
Talking to the media at the Congress Bhavan here, Haokip said he would to strengthen the party and is committed to work for the assembly elections scheduled in 2017.
The assumption of charge by former PHED minister T N Haokip comes in the wake of dissenting voices among Congress legislators pressing for implementation of "one-man-one-post policy".
Meanwhile, the Deputy CM said the "internal crisis" in the party was settled and any issue in the future will be sorted out.
