West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra and Education minister Partha Chatterjee flagged of the two tableux which were taken out spreading the message 'Ekotai Sampreeti' (unity is amity).
Baul singers strummed folk songs in the Nabanna compound and 'Dhakis' (traditional drummers of Bengal) drummed up beats in the presence of ministers and other dignitaries.
The two vehicle-turned-tableux carried campaigns about popular schemes of the government namely 'Kanyashree', 'Khadya Sathi', 'Sabuj Sathi', 'Somobyathi' and others.
In similar programmes, two pairs of tableaux started from the offices of each District Magistrate today with five folk artistes performing atop each.
The popular folk form of different districts - such as Adivasi Dance, Gambhira, Rainbese, Chou dance - will be performed as the tableux will visit different parts, an Information and Cultural Affairs department release said.
