C K Tien, representative of TECC, who led the six-member team, apprised Badal that Taiwan has age old ties with India spanning over 150 years and that the country has a well-knit network of food processing and IT industry and entrepreneurs there could replicate their success stories in Punjab, a spokesperson of the Chief Minister's office said.
Badal assured the visiting delegation that the state government would provide all possible assistance and cooperation in setting up joint ventures, especially in food processing, as Punjab had a strong agriculture base.
Kairon informed the delegation that they would be entitled for liberal concessions on food processing units according to the state government's latest investment policy with an objective to promote agriculture diversification.
Tien told Kairon that Taiwan was planning to set up an electronic city in India and expressed interest in setting that up in the upcoming IT hub at Mohali.
Likewise, he also expressed interest in investing in the food processing sector with Taiwan's expertise in the 'Noodle' manufacturing industry and their entry in the Indian market, particularly in Punjab as the state was the major producer of wheat and rice.
