Having faint references to an MMS leak three years back, which went viral on YouTube, 'Maach Misti and More' director Moinak Bhowmik's 'Take One' is the first such film drawn on real life incident.
"We all remember how some clips, purportedly of a film, were posted on You.Tube and the debate it followd. My film has references to that incident which triggered debates and what is right and wrong in art," Bhowmik said.
"We did not perhaps think about the person who became the centre of all attention and that too unwanted attention by a section," Moinak, known to be a woman sensitive director having filmed 'Ami Aaar Amar Girlfriends' pointing out how women need to have their own space, said.
Labelling 'Take One' as a part documentary-part feature on a heroine who had been cruising into adulation, fame and success until one vicious action leads to her crucification by a patriarchal society, preying on women's chastity, Moinak said, "Only the victim gets spanked by our society but we have not been judge mental in the film."
"None but Swastika (Mukherjee) could portray the role with such conviction. The angst, anguish and yet the fire within of a woman who can only turn back in such situations.
"But metaphorically speaking it can be every woman's story in another sense," the Bedroom maker said.
"Why should there be such action, why should there be such furore. Why nail one person on the cross just because it is she! But my character shows she is no mincemeat," Moinak said.
"I had instant liking for the story the moment Moinak narrated it. Also I always say, you are a man with rare sensibilities of a woman," the Jaatiswar Radio Jockey, fired with the ambition to retrieve the lost hearitage of Bengal, said.
"In fact I don't comprehend the hypocrisy of a society which criticizes a woman for her act before the camera and yet relishes the scenes in private domain," Swastika said. Take One will be released by this month.
