"Talks between Education Minister P K Shahi and office bearers of contractual teachers ended without any result," Krishna Murari, a representative of contractual teachers association said.
"Solution to such issue cannot be found in one day. Today's talks are positive and it will continue in future too," Education Minister P K Shahi told PTI.
The teachers on contract have been getting Rs 6,000 per month as honourarium, officials said.
"We would meet again in November end to reach an agreement on the demands raised by the teachers," Shahi said.
Disappointed contractual teachers said they would continue to sit on dharna at R Block chowk till November 4, the day JD(U)'s 'Adhikar Yatra' is scheduled to seek special status for the state from the Centre.
Earlier, a large number of contractual teachers organised a rally in Patna in support of their demand for pay parity with regular teachers.

After passing through main streets of the capital town, they gathered at the R Block where office bearers addressed them.
Opposition RJD is supporting the agitating teachers. RJD legislator Chandrasekhar addressed the protestors.
They had minor scuffle with workers of activist Arvind Kejriwal-led India Against Corruption at Dak Bunglow roundabout. Police had briefly detained 25 IAC workers who were hosting anti-liquor protest at Dak Bunglow.
The agitating teachers have staged violent protest against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in different parts of the state during his 'Adhikar Yatra'.
