Tamil Nadu Assembly passes supplementary estimates

Tamil Nadu Assembly today gave its nod for the First Supplementary Estimates of over Rs 11,000 crore for the current financial year, moved by the government mainly to meet funds requirement for restructured Centrally sponsored schemes.
Finance Minister O Panneerselvam tabled the first supplementary estimates of Rs 11,336.92 crore, with Rs 9,748.33 crore in Revenue Account and Rs 1,588.59 crore in the Capital and Loan Accounts.
In the interim budget of Government of India, it was decided to channelise the funds for 66 Centrally sponsored schemes, hitherto routed through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) outside the Consolidated Fund of the state, through state budget, he said.
"Since it was presented after the presentation of state government budget for the year 2014-15, adequate allocation of of funds to the tune of Rs 9,873.48 crore has been provided in the supplementary estimates," he said.
Other allocations included Rs 520.40 crore to Transport Department, including Rs 350 crore as share capital assistance.
