The Centre today adopted a hands- off approach to the political crisis in Tamil Nadu terming it as an "internal issue" of the ruling party in the state.
"It is an internal issue of the ruling party of Tamil Nadu and I am sure in accordance with the constitutional norms, the Governor will decide very soon," Finance Minister Arun Jaitley told reporters at the briefing of the decisions of the Union Cabinet.
He, however, parried queries on the developments in the southern state.
The minister was asked what steps the Centre was taking to bring stability in the state and the directions issued to Governor Vidyasagar Rao. To this, he said he does not give directions to the governor.
Tamil Nadu has been in the grip of a political crisis since late Jayalalithaa's close aide V K Sasikala was elected AIADMK's legislature party leader, a move which was aimed at making her the state chief minister, leading to Interim Chief Minister O Panneerselvam raising a banner of revolt against her.
