Tanzanian woman held with Rs 18 lakg drugs at IGIA

A Tanzanian women has been held for allegedly trying to smuggle out narcotics worth Rs 18 lakh from the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) here.
The incident happened yesterday when the woman, identified as Rashid Biwa Ramdhanni (36), was intercepted by Central Industrial Security Force officials when she reached the airport to board a flight to Addis Ababa.
On suspicion, Ramdhanni, a Tanzanian national, was subjected to a thorough frisking following which 68 packets containing narcotics were recovered from her baggage, a senior official said.
"The narcotic drug was found to be Pseudoephedrine, a drug widely abused, and the packets weighed a total of 22.7kg. She was later handed over by the CISF team to anti-narcotics sleuths,"the official added.
The estimated value of the seized drug is about Rs 18 lakh, the official added.
