"Not speaking of common man, a legislator has become the victim of the police brutality. There are some elements in the police department that are hell-bent to bring disrepute to the whole police institution. Such elements need to be identified and punished under law," Tarigami said in a statement.
"We may have political difference but this is not the way to treat a legislator like this. This thrashing incident depicts the police hooliganism and is a direct attack on the democracy," he said.
