'Tarnetar Fair' in Gujarat to start from Sept 8

The famous 'Tarnetar Fair', which showcases Gujarat's culture, traditions and handicrafts, will start from September 8 at Trineteshwar temple in Than town of Surendranagar district, around 35 kms from here.
"Tarnetar Fair is one of the most happening events in Gujarat and is held at the temple of Shiva Trineteshwar (three-eyed god Lord Shiva)," Gujarat Tourism Corporation Limited (GTCL) chairman Kamlesh Patel told reporters here today.
"According to the popular belief, this was the very place where Draupadi had her swayamvara (a ceremony where a princess would choose a husband from amongst a number of eligible suitors). Arjuna, the great archer, performed the 'Matsyavedh' and had won her hand," he added.
The fair would be held between September 8 and 11 and tourists even from foreign countries visit the fair,he said.
