Inaugurating an 'Army Mela' in the city, Gogoi said such events projects a positive image of the force and helps in bringing people closer to the Army by showcasing its role and capacities.
"Such army expositions have always inspired and motivated the youth to join the noble profession in the service of the nation," he said.
He lauded the Army's role in defending the country from both internal and external aggression.
The Chief Minister said that the Government would provide more funds for the overall development of Sainik School, Goalpara.
During the event, he also gave away specially made modified scooters having supports on either side to the ex- servicemen who suffered serious disability.
The event was also attended by General-Officer- Commanding (GOC) of Army's 51 Sub Area Major General G S Chima, Assam Police DGP Jayanto Narayan Chaudhury and other senior government and military officials.
