It was fourth meeting of the Council held here today to analyse the different aspects of the functioning of the public transporter to find out ways to come out with innovative ideas for significant improvement in safety and passenger amenities.
The Council also discussed various approaches towards achieving greater hygiene and cleanliness on rail premises such as stations and trains.
Focusing customer satisfaction, Ratan Tata, chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, wanted to know about punctuality of train running, ticket availability during rush hours, waste disposal system and cleanliness at platforms, according to a senior Railway Ministry official.
All members agreed on Railways' need to address customer needs in a more visible and effective manner.
