Tata Motors banks on Revotron engine to tap petrol car market

Company is engaging people to experience the latest innovation in engine technology

What Intel did in personal computer market, auto major Tata Motors aims to do so with its new Revotron engine and tap the petrol car segment, a company official said today.

"Engine is a major component of a car and so we are engaging people to experience the latest innovation in engine technology that would go into our future petrol cars," Tata Motors sales head (east & south passenger vehicle) Ashesh Dhar said on the sidelines of launch of Revotron lab at here.

"With innovative awareness campaigns like these we are building a strong technology quotient for our global Indian customers," he said.

Dhar said these measures are targeted at petrol car segment market.

"Petrol passenger vehicles market currently stands at 50% up from diesel. We are strong in diesel segment and with this new engine we hope to make strong inroads in petrol car segment which is 50% of the passenger car market," he said.

Dhar said this roadshow for the new engine is being held simultaneously at 20 cities prior to the launch of its sedan Zest aimed to launched before the festive season.

What Intel Inside did for personal computers, similarly we are trying to educate people about our latest innovation in engine which is a crucial component of car, he said.

Tata Motors offers an exciting 3D game, including mobile version to experience multi-drive modes sport, eco capability of the engine for auto-enthusiasts, sound zone and touch and feel zone on large screens to engage prospect consumers.

Bolt will follow Zest and both of these cars would be powered by new petrol engines, he said.

Tata Motors said the engine has almost 97% of indigenisation and has been developed with inputs from renowed global players like AVL, Bosch, Honeywell, Mahale, INA in the area of combustion, boosting, friction and calibration to deliver class performance.
